Thermal Infrared Sensor

Thermal Infrared Sensor for Lego Mindstorms NXT from Dexter IndustriesComing soon from Dexter Industries:  a digital Thermal Infrared Sensor.

The thermal infrared is a sensor measures the temperature of objects without touching them, by measuring the infrared radiation coming off.  Infrared sensors are used in everything from night-vision to medical diagnostics.

Soon you’ll be able to measure the temperature of objects (and at the same time the ambient temperature!) just by pointing this sensor at something.  This sensor will be able to measure up to 380° C!

What is the distance it can take reasonable readings from?

    Paul,
So for we’ve only tested detection at 2 meters. It should “see” heat from a little further, but we’re still testing it!
