Looking for adventure? Last month we quietly released a beta version of the BrickPi firmware that will allow you to use EV3 sensors and the BrickPi.  We wanted to invite all that are interested pushing the state of the art further to give the firmware a test.

Dwalton76 over at programmablebrick has built a programmable LEGO digital clock with the BrickPi.             He has re-worked the original lego clock design by Hans Anderson, using the BrickPi and a Raspberry Pi.   All of the code is written in python and is available on github: https://github.com/dwalton76/LegoDigitalClock  

The BrickPi recently debuted at CERN in Geneva at their Raspberry Pi day.  The BrickPi was front and center with some LEGO robotics, Raspberry Pi, and Scratch creating. This week we want to share some data we gathered while running some tests on the new EV3 system. Using a DC Bench-top power supply, measuring down to the milliamp, we roughly measured the EV3 current consumption in different situations.  The tabulated data provides an interesting place to start when estimating the battery lifetime of the EV3 battery.

This week we learned about two amazing projects with the dLight LED system for the LEGO Mindstorms NXT.  One is a high-tech indoor GPS system, the other is high art created with the dLight.
